LA Juice Tour with De’Mar Hamilton

Remember my friend De’Mar (the very first Babes in Plantland)? When I saw him recently in LA, I learned that, while he was repping the plant-based life pretty hard, he was still just getting into the juice thing. And seeing that he loves adventures, I asked him if he would be up for a mini juice tour of LA, so he could see what his city has to offer. And in true De’Mar fashion, he said yes. The man is up for anything. Always.

Our first stop was Moon Juice in Venice. It’s a super bright and pretty space. The staff was so friendly and cool, it almost felt like they were making fun of us…until we realized they were really just that nice and cool. I love their handy board that helps you decide which juice might fit best for your day. It was a hard decision, but he wanted to start off light, so he went with their Cilantro Celery Punch…just edging out the Burdock Diakon Citrine.

De’Mar’s Pick: Cilantro Celery Punch (cilantro, celery, green apple, lemon, ginger), designed for “nerve calming and infection fighting.”

De’Mar’s Review: “Refreshing with a kick. Would get this again for sure. And did you see how nice that guy was that helped us? That was crazy.”

Our next stop was the popular Pressed Juicery. They have a whopping 7 locations all over LA, from West Hollywood to Studio City. We chose the location in Brentwood by the Brentwood Country Mart, because I love that shopping area. This location had a cute little window with tons of juice options and waters. De’Mar went with the their Citrus 4 for the aloe vera. He had never tasted it in a juice before and was also feeling a bit nostalgic. His grandmother always had aloe plants around when he was growing up. And I loved that they add strawberry to some of their juices, something I am excited to try at home.

De’Mar’s Pick: Citrus 4 (cucumber, pineapple, lemon, coconut h2o, aloe vera)

De’Mar’s Review: ”Unexpected and clean. Loving the aloe vera. I kind of just want to start drinking aloe vera all the time.”

When I told my friend Ash that De’Mar and I were doing a juice tour, he said that the only place we needed to stop was Beverly Hills Juice. This place is truly an OG of juice. It opened in 1975. Yes, 1975. A time when drinking green juice seemed a little more cuckoo and extreme. It’s a tiny shop that fits about three people at a time, so it’s good to know what you want to order beforehand. De’mar made a fast decision and chose their famous Banana Manna Almond shake. It’s their take on a milkshake, and it was De’Mar’s favorite of the day.

De’mar’s Choice: Banana Manna Almond Shake (banana, almond milk, and mixed greens: celery, parsley, spinach, kale, romaine)

De’Mar’s Review: ”SO good and filling. I want to drink this everyday. Should we go back tomorrow?”
